My Holiday Diary: Day 2 - Beach day, A Thousand Steps & BBQ

We all rose late on Sunday morning considering the two hours sleep we were running on the day before. We had a lovely breakfast of croissants, fresh fruit, tea and coffee, and 2-tone white and milk chocolate spread (MMM...HEALTHY!).

We packed up our bags, doused ourselves in SPF and piled into the car, picnic and sunglasses in tow, on route to the beach. After the ... "interesting" experience of the corkscrew hill drive we eventually arrived at a gorgeous sandy beach, dotted with lots of colourful sun umbrellas and bronzed, glowing humans. We perched ourselves under a straw sun umbrella and the sunbathing commenced, with breaks taken at various intervals for picknicking, paddling in the FREEZING seawater and reading (or in our Aunt Brona's case - knitting a hat in 30 degree heat!).

After hours of absorbing every last ray or sunshine, we decided to pack up our beach bags and trek the thousand steps (ish) back up to the carpark from the beach (quite a struggle for those of us on the more unfit side of things let me tell you *puffs air dramatically*), and made our way home. While all the gals de-sanded ourselves, Dad went to get food for dinner and while he fired up the outdoor barbecue, we made salads, potatoes and arranged the table for dinner. It was SO yum, - BBQ salmon; steak; broccoli, tomato & feta cheese salad and baby potatoes.

After dinner we played a few games of cards, had some wine and around midnight we all fell into our beds, attempting to block out the sound of the 400 dogs barking in a kennels 500 metres down the road - they do not sleep!

Thanks for reading!
