My Holiday Diary: Day 6 - A palace, Fro-Yo & Getting Lost (again)

We had great plans to head to the beach early in the morning but when we woke up it was very cloudy and overcast so we decided against it (in the hope that it would get sunny later on), and chose to venture into the town of Sintra once again - where we had gone for dinner on Monday night - as we hadn't experienced it during the daytime yet. It was even more wonderful during the day, again with cobbled streets, tiny bric-a-brac shops (I bought a mug that actually looks like a real strawberry) and happy little cafés heaving with smiling faces and wondrous eyes.

Mom, Caoimhe and I went for a tour of the 17th century palace in the centre of the town, which was absolutely amazing - the decor on the inside was to die for! So many beautifully ornate tiles covering every floor, wall and ceiling.

Afterwards, we met back up with Meave and Dad and had a look around the shops and strolled the ivy and flower-covered streets, stopping for a frozen yogurt and coffee break before going for a drive. (The drive evidently turned into us getting lost on a narrow mountain road while trying to find our way back to the house). We stopped at a lovely beach in yet another tiny town before finally finding our way back!

Mom and Dad then went out for dinner, while the three of us had pasta with Philadelphia cream cheese and bacon - SO GOOD - followed by a few games of cards. Mom and Dad then came home and after telling us all about what they ate and how wonderful the place was, we all hit the hay, wanting to be ready and waiting for the sun to rise with us in the morning.

Thank you for reading!
